Mayor Gray: Sign the Large Retailer Accountability Act

Please follow the council's lead and sign the Large Retailer Accountability Act into law.

D.C. deserves better than low-wage employers, and the LRAA will go a big distance toward providing D.C. workers with a living wage.

Please sign this bill.

Why is this important?

On July 10 the D.C. City Council passed the Large Retailer Accountability Act (LRAA), a bill that requires large retailers to pay their employees $12.50 an hour. This means that any company that has 75,000 square feet of space in D.C. and at least $1 billion in revenue each year has to pay its workers a living wage.

The bill passed the Council 8-5 and now goes to Mayor Vincent Gray’s desk for his signature.

Wal-Mart has launched an all-out assault of threats to D.C., including the mayor. It says that if the law is passed, it will pull out of three planned projects in the District.

We need to tell Wal-Mart that D.C. deserves better. We need Mayor Gray to make the Large Retailer Accountability Act law.
