Mistake by the Lake
Fund the purchase of the Capitol Center Building on the Olympia Isthmus.
Why is this important?
The Capitol Center Building blocks the majestic public views of Budd Inlet from the State Capitol complex and the southern portion of the Olympia Isthmus. It violates the State of Washington Shoreline Management Act. Additionally, it vitiates the citizens' 2008 petition to establish the Olympia Isthmus Park. A Hearing Examiner for the City of Olympia recently approved a Land Use Approval for an expanded use of the abandoned building. Nonetheless, he concluded the Capitol Center Building ". . . is unattractive and its location is truly unfortunate. In a perfect world, it never would have been constructed, and it could not be constructed today." It is time to purchase what is commonly referred to as the "Mistake by the Lake."
