To: Governor Tim Walz

No Copper Sulfide mines should be allowed in Minnesota’s National Forest headwaters.

Water is our most precious resource. Copper sulfide mines have over a 90% failure rate after closing. Minnesota has some of the purest water left in the world. The proposed PolyMet mine endangers the headwaters, the St. Louis River and Lake Superior. PolyMet has a terrible environmental record. Sign now: Do not put the mine in the headwaters.

Why is this important?

Governor Dayton has been misinformed about the high standards of review at the Department of Natural Resources. I respectfully ask him to review the work of the attorneys for The Friends of the Boundary Waters or read the public testimony from the hearing in Duluth on February 8.

Please get the facts and find a better way to bring jobs to our fellow citizens in Northern Minnesota. We can do better than endangering our ground water, rivers, and Lake Superior, which we share with other states and Canada. Do the right thing!
