Petition to Stop the Sale of the Facilities Services Greenhouse
We, the undersigned, as concerned affiliates of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, urge our leaders to act now to stop the sale of the Facilities Services Greenhouse to outside parties.
Why is this important?
Due to budget cuts and a deficit estimated at 12-14 Million USD, UAF has decided to discontinue its use of the Facilities Services Greenhouse in favor of selling it at auction and using its former footprint as a staging area for the upcoming powerplant renovation. Instead, due to its considerably greater value outside of the standard economic model, we propose to relocate it within the campus to increase student access to locally-grown produce and educational opportunities.
