Protect Violence Against Women Act

We are calling for a protest and boycott against the wall and demanding that the government shut-down come to an end so that families at the border can feed their children. Furthermore, we insist on the release of funding under the VAWA Act that protects women and children.

Why is this important?

The government shutdown officially began at 12.22.18, which means the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has expired and programs that assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will be left without funding.

The National Taskforce Against Domestic Violence founder Sabrina Mckenzie is standing in solidarity with Women across the nation to resist the idea of building a wall to protect citizens from potential danger outside when we should be demanding monies to protect women from the existing dangers that women experience inside the country each day when every nine seconds a woman is abused.

We are calling for a protest and boycott against the wall and demanding that the government shut-down come to an end so that families at the border can feed their children. Furthermore, we insist on the release of funding under the VAWA Act that protects women and children.

We have convened a non-partisan ecumenical coalition of high powered women leaders and community activists who are supporting the rights and protection of all women.
