Release The Basement Tapes
Release the Basement Tapes for us to gain better understanding of violent warning signs and ensure the safety of our schools.
Why is this important?
We are all aware of the horrible tragedy that plagued our nation on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School. The Basement Tapes were created by the two perpetrators in the months prior to the incident. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has refused to release the tapes until 2027 due to fear of copy cat crimes. Challenging their reasoning, one can contend that these tapes would give us further insight into the minds of the two subjects and those alike. Therefore, resulting in preventative measures to avoid situations as tragic as Columbine.
