The Voting Rights Act is NOT really dead!
Mr. President and MS. Attorney General: please make every effort to interpret the Supreme Court's partial striking down of the Voting Rights Act as allowing preclearance by DOJ of ALL voting law changes in the ENTIRE UNITED STATES.
Why is this important?
State governments are changing voting laws to suppress the vote in minority and poor communities by "anti-fraud" subterfuge, and the Supreme Court has struck down the existing preclearance list, but not the IDEA of preclearance. We feel that the law is valid if the list is: ALL states and jurisdictions, and this would put pressure on Congress to come up with a reasonable new list.
